Age Is Only a Number!

Healthy, clear vision is integral to supporting your quality of life and making the most of every day.

Even though we believe that age is only a number, you may have a higher risk for several different eye diseases and conditions, some of which can cause permanent vision loss if we don’t address them as early as possible. Annual eye exams are the key to detecting and managing these issues, and we can help by personalizing your exam process to look for potential problems you may have a higher risk of developing. From here, we’ll develop a unique strategy to address these concerns.

Our Eye Exam Process

No 2 pairs of eyes are the same, so we personalize our process based on your vision and your health history. We collect this information during the first part of your eye exam, and once we’ve reviewed your medical history and gone over any questions you may have, we’ll get started with your eye exam.

Eye exams usually take about an hour, and we’ll use various tests and technologies to get a full picture of your eye health and vision. While everybody’s eyes are unique, some of the most common eye problems include:

If we detect any issues with your eyes or vision, we’ll get to work on developing a strategy to address the problem in a way that works best for you.

Vision Testing

Vision testing is how we determine your vision quality and lens prescription. During this part of the exam, we’ll use classic methods, like an eye chart, to determine your visual acuity, as well as measure how light refracts into your eyes.

Refractive errors affect people of all ages. Nearsightedness (myopia) and farsightedness (hyperopia) are among the most common, but astigmatism and presbyopia can affect your vision quality at various distances.

Examining your eye health is arguably the most important part of your eye exam. During your eye health assessment, we’ll take a look inside your eye and the structures that support your vision, like your retina, macula, and optic nerve.

Observing these structures can help us detect early signs of potential issues before they cause permanent damage. We can also detect these problems by measuring your eye’s internal pressure and testing your visual field.

For more information about the technologies we use and the common issues we look for, please visit our Eye Disease Diagnosis & Management page.

Managing your eye health and vision is a unique process that can change as you age. If we discover an issue, we can prescribe contact lenses, medications, or even recommend nutritional changes to promote healthy eyes and clear vision.
